Update: A kid at my shop's Free Comic Book Day table told me something I keep thinking about
I was running the giveaway table at my local shop in Portland back in May. This kid around 11 or 12 picked up a beat up copy of a Nova issue and asked me if I had read it. I told him yeah, years ago, and he goes "you're lucky, I wish I could read it for the first time." That line hit me harder than any review or podcast ever has. Now I seek out that feeling by handing new readers my favorites without saying a word. Anyone else ever get knocked sideways by a random comment from a young reader?

That kid handed you a whole new way of seeing things without even knowing it. Reminds me of when my nephew grabbed my old copy of Bone and just stared at it like it was treasure, then asked why I ever stopped reading them. Sometimes the small stuff kids say sticks with you way longer than it should.
