Unpopular opinion: grading comics by spine ticks alone misses the real problem

I sent 4 books to CGC last month and the ones that came back lowest had cover gloss gone, not spine damage, which almost no one at my local meetup in Austin checks for. Does anyone else weigh gloss over spine ticks when they buy raw books, or am I the only one?
