Tried reading old comics in release order and finally got why people love the 90s X-Men
I always skipped the filler issues in my collection, but last month I forced myself to read Uncanny X-Men #245 through #280 in order without skipping anything. Those smaller character moments between the big events actually built up the emotion for the big fights way better than just reading the crossover books alone. Has anyone else noticed how much better the main stories hit when you sit through all the B-plots and side missions first?

Nah, skipping the filler stuff makes the big moments hit harder cause they don't get buried in boring side plots.

Is it really better to just skip the slower parts though? Like, the filler stuff is what makes you care about the characters in the first place. Without it, you just get big action scenes that feel empty. The boring parts set up the stakes so the big moments actually mean something. If you skip all that, you're just watching a highlight reel instead of a story.
