Serious question, I spent 2 years buying nothing but slabbed comics and a guy at a shop in Fresno asked why
He pulled out a raw copy of X-Men 129 from his dollar bin and let me flip through it, and I realized I hadn't actually read a comic in months. Anyone else get so deep into grading and flipping that they forgot why they started?
I did the same thing but with variant covers, had like 40 of them in a short box and not one story I could actually tell you about. My buddy asked me what happened in issue 12 of something I owned three copies of and I just stared at him like a cow at a new gate. Sat down that night, cracked one open, and it was like remembering you own a couch after sitting on the floor for two years. Now I keep a beat up reader copy of whatever I'm into right next to the slabs so I don't forget again. Your mileage may vary but that dollar bin rescue is a pretty solid wake up call.
