My uncle told me to never buy a comic for its cover back in 2019

He said, 'Kid, that shiny #1 variant is a trap, the story inside is garbage.' I ignored him and dropped $75 on a flashy X-Men book with a foil cover. Read it once, hated it, and it's been sitting in a box for five years. Meanwhile, a beat-up copy of Daredevil #181 I got for $20 because the story was good is my favorite thing on my shelf. I finally admitted he was right last week. Anyone else have a book they bought for looks that turned out to be a total dud?

Ugh, did the same thing with a super shiny Spider-Man #1 from a few years back. I mean, it looked so cool in the shop, but the story was just a boring rehash. I used to grab anything with a fancy cover, but now I flip through and read a page or two first. That cheap, old issue of Moon Knight I found is way better.
