Just read that a mint copy of Action Comics #1 sold for $6 million in 2022, which is wild when you think about how kids used to just read them in the street.

I found that stat in an old auction recap on a comic news site, and it really makes you wonder what my beat-up '90s X-Men issues are worth now, lol.

Right, the part about kids reading them in the street really hits home. I had a full run of early Image comics that I literally left in a cardboard box in my damp basement for a decade. Found them last year, and they were basically a science project. So much for my retirement plan being those chromium covers.

Wait, you left them in a damp basement? That's the real crime here... I can almost smell that box from here. All that early Image stuff just turning into a weird, pulpy mess. It hurts to even think about it. Those chromium covers were supposed to be our tickets out, weren't they?

My uncle stored his entire Spawn run in a garage in Florida. Humidity warped every single book into a solid brick. I used to laugh at people who bagged and boarded everything, but that mess changed my mind. Now my decent books are in a plastic bin with silica gel packs. It's not worth the risk.
