I thought the new Spider-Man writer was a bad pick until I read the first issue
When they announced Zeb Wells was taking over Amazing Spider-Man, I was sure it would be a mess. I figured it would just be more of the same old drama with Peter and MJ. But the first arc, with the new villain Tombstone and Peter's new job at Oscorp, actually felt fresh. It convinced me to give it a shot. Anyone else have a strong opinion on a comic creative team that turned out to be wrong?

Guess we're all just bad at predicting comic books.

Totally get that. I had the same exact feeling when Chip Zdarsky was announced for Daredevil. I thought his style was too goofy for a book that dark. Man, was I wrong. He and Checchetto ended up making one of the best runs ever, full of real weight and consequence. It completely changed my mind about him as a writer for serious books.

Real weight and consequence" felt forced to me, honestly. Did the pacing throw you off at all?
