Five boxes of back issues ruined at a con last month, watch the floor layout

I was at the Metro City Convention Center for the summer comic show and set my long boxes near an aisle that had a drink station. Around 2pm a vendor two tables over knocked over a full soda bucket and it ran right under my boxes before I could move them. The bottom two inches of maybe 40 books got wet, some are goners. I've since started putting my short boxes on those plastic milk crates at any show, plus I check where the vendors park their coolers. Anyone else have a con disaster like this or have a smarter way to keep your stock off the floor?
