Debate: Does reading the comic before the movie version actually ruin the experience?
I was talking to a guy at my local shop last Saturday who refuses to read any comic that has a movie coming out. He says knowing the plot ahead of time kills the surprise. But I just finished The Infinity Gauntlet run from 1991 and honestly the movie felt way better because I could spot all the callbacks and stuff. His argument is that comic fans ruin movies by acting superior about source material. Which side do you land on and why?

That guy at your shop is dead wrong. I had the same thing happen with Old Man Logan. I read that run years before the movie came out and knowing Logan was a broken, pacifist farmer made the whole thing hit way harder. The movie did its own thing with the story but I caught all the little nods and felt like I was in on a secret. Plus half the fun is seeing how they adapt it differently. He's missing out big time.

omg @kim.sandra that's exactly what my friend Sarah said about reading The Boys before the show dropped. she spent the whole first season going "wait til you see what happens with that guy" and none of us had a clue what she was on about.
