Bargaining with a back issue dealer over a nearly mint X-Men #137 took me 45 minutes

I swear he pulled out a magnifying glass and found a microscopic spine tick I somehow missed, then we haggled forever over $3. Has anyone else spent that long on one back issue?

Yeah that sounds about right for a serious collector. I've had a guy pull out a blue light for a spine tick on a $10 book before lol. The magnifying glass thing is a classic move, they act like they're grading it for CGC or something. $3 over 45 minutes is wild though, I would've walked after 15. Some dealers treat every back issue like it's a rare gem when it's really just a solid reader copy.
