Back when I read floppy comics in the 90s, the paper was so thin you could see the next page through it, and I miss that cheap feel over today's glossy stock.

I picked up a new issue at the shop last week and the glossy pages just felt too fancy, like I was holding a magazine instead of a comic, anyone else prefer the old newsprint?

Oh man, the ghost pages! I remember reading an X-Men issue and you could literally see Rogue's fist punching through from the next page. And the ink would always smudge if your hands were even slightly sweaty. I used to love that smell too, like old library books and desperation. Glossy comics feel like they're trying to be fancy art prints or something, but part of the charm was that they were disposable and cheap.

and the cheap paper always felt so right, like it wasn't supposed to last forever.
