Vent: I studied in the library every night for 2 years before I figured out it was hurting me
I used to plant myself at the same table in the campus library from 7pm to midnight every single night, and I thought that was just what serious students do. Then last semester I got a C on a midterm for a class I actually understood, and my roommate asked where I studied for it. I told him the library, and he said he'd watched me reread the same page like five times a night without writing anything down. Started studying in a loud cafe near my apartment for one hour instead, writing stuff from memory on index cards, and my grades went up across the board. Has anyone else had a spot or habit that felt productive but was really just keeping them busy?
Why do you assume the library itself was the problem though? Sounds like the real issue was that you were rereading pages without testing yourself, and you could have fixed that at the same table just as easy. The cafe didn't make you write stuff from memory, you finally decided to actually study that way.
