Hot take: group projects are either the best or worst part of college and there's no in between

I had a group project freshman year where we all met up twice, split the work evenly, and got an A. Last semester I had one where two people did nothing and the third rewrote my entire section without asking. Is it the people or the professor's setup that makes or breaks these things?

Bad groups happen when nobody wants to be the bad guy early on.

The last campaign I joined had 6 players, and by session 3 it was already a mess because everyone kept going "well, my character wouldn't say anything" when loot got split unfairly. @finley939 you're totally on point about the bad guy thing. I mean, I get it, nobody wants to be the one who calls out the minmaxer or interrupts the rambling player, but that's literally how you end up with a group where nobody trusts each other. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'd rather have one awkward conversation early than six sessions of silent resentment.
