Commuter rail or campus dorm? I picked the train and it's a toss-up
I chose the 55-minute Metra ride from Aurora over paying $1,200 a month for a dorm near DePaul, and honestly, I'm split on it. The train gives me free time to read and saves a ton of money, but I miss the late-night study groups and random hangouts in the lounge. My roommate last semester swore by living on campus for the social life, but she's drowning in loans now. Has anyone else made this call and found a way to get the best of both without losing their mind?

Metra from Aurora is like 55 minutes if you catch the express, but the regular ones run closer to 75 with all the stops. I did the same move for two years and the trick is forcing yourself to stay on campus till 8 or 9 pm a couple days a week, then doing the late stuff on weekends. It's a grind but beats the loan payments.
