Took a free intro coding class in Austin and realized I'd been writing all my loops backwards
I signed up for a Saturday beginner Python workshop at the Austin library 3 months ago, mostly because I kept getting stuck on the same exercise in an app I was using. About 40 minutes in, the teacher had us print numbers 1 through 5, and she stopped at my screen and asked why I was building the list with a loop that ran after everything else. I'd been writing my code so it did the work first and repeated at the end, which meant I was copy pasting the same three lines over and over instead of trusting the loop to handle it. She said "the loop tells the computer when to start, not when to clean up" and something just clicked. Did anyone else learn something basic way later than they should have, or is my brain just slow with this stuff?
