Started a fight with my mentor about using Python for my first project instead of JavaScript
My mentor told me Python is way better for beginners because of its simpler syntax, but I argued that JavaScript has more real-world job listings and I can see results in a browser instantly. He laughed and said I was just scared of learning loops properly, which honestly stung cause he's not wrong. So which should a total newbie actually start with, the forgiving language or the one that gets you hired faster?

Wait, @jakewhite are you serious? Your buddy actually tried Python first and couldnt get hired for months? That blows my mind because I always thought Python was the safe bet for beginners. Everyone says its easy to learn and has all those job listings. But Ive seen people get stuck in tutorial hell with it too. Maybe he was just unlucky or picked the wrong field to focus on.
