Overheard a senior dev say 'just push to production' at a coffee shop yesterday
He was talking about a side project, not their day job, but it made me realize how many tutorials skip over staging environments entirely. Has anyone else found themselves accidentally making changes live because you set up your first project wrong?

Did you end up setting up a staging environment after that? I learned the hard way too, now I always use a free tier of something like Heroku or Vercel for staging before touching production.

oh my god, same. first real project i ever deployed was a blog site for a local bakery. i copied a config line from some random tutorial and straight up bypassed any staging setup. ended up pushing a "under construction" page with lorem ipsum text live for like 6 hours before i realized. customers must have thought the bakery was selling latin gibberish bread or something. now i triple check every pipeline config before i even touch deploy.
