Just gave up on solo projects after 3 months of frustration
I spent all summer trying to build a personal website from scratch with vanilla PHP and CSS, then my friend showed me how he launched a full blog using WordPress in 2 days. The difference was insane - his site looked cleaner, had built-in security, and he didn't have to write hundreds of lines just to handle login forms. Has anyone else hit a wall trying to do everything yourself vs just using a framework?

Wait you actually changed your MIND on this? I was the same way, thought frameworks were for people who didnt want to learn the real stuff. Then I spent a month building a custom CMS and realized I was just reinventing the wheel while my buddy already had his site online making money.

The same thing happened to me with a forum I tried coding myself. I spent like 2 months wrestling with user permissions and password hashing, then my buddy just installed some built in forum software and had it running in an afternoon. I actually felt kind of dumb watching him set it up in a few hours when I had nothing to show for all that time. The security alone was worth it, because I definitely would have missed something important. It's just not worth grinding through all that low level stuff when you could be actually working on the cool features instead.
