Tried bumping my feed rate by 20% on aluminum and it actually gave me a better surface finish

Was running a job for 304 stainless brackets last month and the chip thinning was making my finish look terrible, so I sped up the feed from 12 IPM to 14.5 IPM and the chatter completely disappeared, has anyone else seen better results from running faster instead of slower?

On thin wall aluminum, what feed rate did you end up at?

Used to be one of those guys who'd always slow down the feed to fix a bad finish, thought going faster would just make things worse. Then a customer needed a rush job on some thin wall aluminum parts and I had to push it hard, ended up with mirror finish and zero vibration marks. Still catches me off guard when cranking up the speed actually makes everything smoother.

Huh, I always thought slower was safer for finish work.
