That trade show demo in Chicago made me rethink my whole tooling setup
Watched a guy at IMTS last month run a 40-taper machine with a 5/8 endmill at 600 SFM and it cut so clean I went back to my shop and started testing different holders, anyone else had a demo that changed their inserts or holders after years of doing it one way?
Demo floors are set up to look good. Different machine, fresh setup, guy who runs that exact cut every single day. Take it back to your shop with your worn spindle and your beat up vise and see if 600 SFM still looks like magic. Ran a similar test after a show a few years back and the finish was great for about two parts then chatter showed up. Holders matter but they won't save a machine that needs work. Not saying don't test stuff, just don't rebuild your whole setup over one flashy booth run.
