Shoutout to the G54 offset that ate my whole Saturday on a 1998 Haas VF-2
Spent 6 hours chasing a 0.015 inch taper on a batch of 4140 shafts because I kept re-indicating the vise instead of checking my work offset, and I finally found it after running 11 test parts. Turned out someone had typed 0.015 into the G54 Z value after a tool change the week before, and the machine was just doing exactly what I told it. How do you all keep track of who touched the offsets on a shared machine without losing your mind?
