I thought those 'magic' cutting fluids were just marketing junk
For years I stuck with the same old stuff, thinking all the fancy new brands were just the same oil in a different bottle. Then my boss brought in a sample of this new coolant called 'Kool-Grip' last month, said it was supposed to stop chatter on our finicky aluminum jobs. I ran a test on a 6061 part we always had trouble with, using the same speeds and feeds. The finish went from looking like a washboard to almost mirror smooth, and the tool lasted for 50 more parts before I had to change it. I guess sometimes the new thing is actually new. Has anyone else had a tool or fluid surprise them like that?

Yeah, makes you wonder what else we're still using just because it's familiar, lol.

Totally, like the whole QWERTY keyboard layout is a perfect example of that. We're stuck with it cause it's what everyone knows.
