I finally saw the light on tool presetters at a shop in Toledo
Went to check out a used machine at a small shop outside Toledo last week and the owner had a cheap tool presetter sitting right by the lathe. He let me run a couple of end mills through it, idk why I never bothered with one before. Guessing offsets by eye cost me so much scrap over the years, probably a few hundred dollars worth of parts easy. Do most of you guys use a presetter or just touch off on the part and hope for the best?
