First time I got a 0.002 inch tolerance on a manual machine at work
Been running a Bridgeport for about 3 years now at a little shop outside of Detroit. Last Tuesday my boss had me make some weird adapter part for a mold repair and I managed to hold 0.002 on a bore. Felt good since I usually just do basic production stuff. Anyone else remember their first real tight tolerance job?

You remember that feeling where you double check the measurement like three times cause you can't believe it hit? Honestly I get it, that's a solid win on a manual machine especially on a bore where you're fighting deflection and tool wear the whole time. Ngl the first time I pulled off a tight one on a manual lathe I just stood there staring at the mic for a solid minute. It's a real rush when you know you earned it with feel and setup, not just pushing a button on a CNC. Props to you for sticking with it and getting that part right.

Stood over that micrometer for a good five minutes myself last month on a tight shaft fit. Kept wiping it clean and rechecking because I couldn't believe I hadn't overshot it. That feeling of nailing a critical dimension by hand never gets old.
