Update: my town's plastic bag ban started 3 years ago and I still think it backfired
I got hit with a 10 cent charge for a thick reusable bag at the Kroger on Main Street in Ann Arbor, and studies keep showing those heavier bags take way more energy to make. Has anyone else noticed their drawer of forgotten tote bags piling up while the thin plastic never really went away?
Did you know those thick bags need to be reused like 50 times just to break even with the thin ones on energy use? Most of mine just sit in the trunk, so the whole thing feels like a tax on forgetting your bags instead of a real fix.
