Trying to get my block to do a 4 week no drive challenge, and week 1 went sideways

We got 11 houses on my street in Portland to try going car free for 4 weeks, and by day 3 two families had already bailed because the bus line on our street only runs every 45 minutes. I ended up driving 6 neighbors to the grocery store in my van on Saturday, which kind of defeats the point of the whole thing. Has anyone run a block level challenge like this and found a way to make it stick without a decent bus route?
