Switched my AC filter schedule after my electric bill jumped $35 in July

I used to only swap my furnace filter every 4 months like my dad always did, but after our July electric bill hit $210 I figured something was up. Talked to a neighbor who works at an HVAC place and he said a dirty filter could make the AC run 15% harder, so now I check it monthly. Has anyone else noticed a drop in their power costs after changing how often they replace filters?

A dirty filter can actually mess with your indoor air quality just as much as your electric bill. All that trapped dust and gunk gets cycled back into your home once the filter is too clogged to catch anything. Plus, a cleaner filter means your AC compressor doesn't have to fight so hard, which saves wear and tear too.
