Started biking to the grocery store in Denver and cut my car trips by half last month.

That's a solid way to start. I found using a big backpack and a couple of reusable bags makes hauling everything back way easier. What's the furthest you'll bike for groceries now?

Totally agree about the backpack and reusable bags, that's a game changer for balancing everything. I've pushed it to about three miles one way, but that's my limit with a full load of stuff like milk and cans. Any further and I start worrying about my eggs making it home in one piece! It feels awesome to not use the car, though.

Have you tried putting the eggs in the middle of the backpack surrounded by soft stuff? I do that with a loaf of bread and it usually survives. I'm with you though, anything past three miles gets rough when you're carrying heavy stuff. I stick to two miles max myself because I'm lazy and my shoulder starts complaining. But yeah, not using the car feels way better than I thought it would, even with the occasional crushed egg.
