Spent $180 on a molecular gastronomy kit and used it twice

That spherification kit sat in my locker for eight months, and when I finally tried the sodium alginate bath at home last Tuesday, everything turned into slime, so save your cash and learn proper knife skills instead, or has anyone here gotten real use out of one of those kits?
