Heard a line cook in Portland call for 'service, please' instead of yelling 'order up'

I was eating at a small place in Portland last month and heard the cook call out 'service, please' in a clear, calm voice. It struck me how much nicer the kitchen sounded. I tried it in my own kitchen this week, and the whole team seems less stressed during the rush. Has anyone else tried changing their call-back language, and what worked for you?

Portland kitchens are that polite? @taylor929 has a point.

Yeah like when they say "heard" instead of just grunting back. Or "behind you" in a normal voice, not barking it. Even "corner" when someone's coming around with a hot pan, it's just a quiet heads up. Takes the edge off when the kitchen's busy but nobody's yelling.

Oh that's cool. It reminds me of this coffee shop where they say "coffee's ready" instead of yelling names. Makes the whole vibe less frantic. What other kitchen phrases sound better when they're calm?
