Is the $3 taco truck down the block actually better than the $8 taco spot downtown?
I've been hitting this taco truck on 5th and Main for like 2 weeks now, and the al pastor is honestly fire, but my buddy swears the sit-down place with the $8 plates has better meat because they marinate it longer. I compared both on the same night last Friday, and the truck won on flavor but lost on portion size. The truck gives you 3 small tacos for $8.50, while the restaurant gives you 2 giant ones for the same price. Am I just cheap for picking the truck, or does anyone else think bigger portions sometimes beat fancy seasoning? What's your rule for when a cheap spot is worth it vs just a money grab?

Taco math is the real issue here, because 8.50 for 3 tiny tacos is basically 2.83 per bite of joy. The 8 dollar spot downtown sounds fancy until you realize you're paying for a waiter to watch you eat. My rule is simple, if the cheap spot makes me want a second order, it already lost the price war.
