I finally tried the $1.50 tamales from the cooler at the back of the Super Mercado on Culebra
I always walked past that little white cooler near the meat counter thinking it was just for drinks, but a guy stocking shelves told me the tamales in there are made fresh every morning and sell out by noon. Bought six for $9, ate two in the parking lot, and went right back in for a dozen more. Anybody else got a spot where the good stuff is hiding somewhere you'd never think to look?
