Thermal paste vs. $40 cooler, my Ryzen 2600 ran 14C cooler with the cheap fix
Had a used Ryzen 2600 hitting 91C under load, so I was about to drop money on a new tower cooler. Friend said try re-pasting with that $6 tube of Arctic MX-4 from Micro Center first, so I did and it dropped to 77C after a 30 minute stress test. Now I'm wondering if we're all overbuying coolers when old paste is the real culprit, or if that's just luck on older chips. Anyone else get a bigger win from a $6 tube than a $50 part swap, or did I get a weird one-off?
