That $20 power strip saved me a $150 repair bill
Last Tuesday my desktop started randomly shutting off, and I was sure the PSU was toast. Before ordering a new one, I grabbed a cheap Kill A Watt meter from Harbor Freight and found the voltage dipping under load. Turned out the old surge protector I'd been using since 2019 was cooked, so I swapped in a basic $20 strip from Home Depot in Richmond. Has anyone else traced a flaky machine to a worn-out power strip instead of the actual components?

Ngl, the real culprit might be the outlet itself, not the strip. Older wiring in apartments can sag under load too, that $20 fix could hide a $500 electrician trip later.
