Stopped trusting that $15 paste after a buddy's tip saved my GPU
My friend Joe from Tulsa told me to ditch the expensive thermal paste and use the cheap white stuff from the hardware store, and after repasting my old 970 with it last week, my temps dropped 9 degrees, so has anyone else been burned by fancy paste that was just marketing?

Isn't that always the way, though? You pay triple for the name brand and it's basically the same stuff, just with a fancier label and a YouTube ad budget. It's like that with HDMI cables too, you know, the $50 ones vs the $8 ones. I've also noticed it with basic tools, my cheap harbor freight wrench has outlasted a "pro" brand one I bought for twice as much. It feels like half the time we're paying for the fear of it failing, not the actual quality of the product. So yeah, good for you for catching on, the expensive stuff is mostly just vibes.
