Spent $30 on a "reman" PSU and got sparks instead of savings

Picked up a refurbished 600W unit off that auction site last Tuesday for my old gaming rig, and it popped a capacitor within 20 minutes of load. I know cheap power supplies are a gamble, but has anyone else had better luck with specific reman brands or do you just bite the bullet and buy new?

You said it popped a capacitor within 20 minutes under load, which is the part that gets me. Was it a total no-name brand or one of those companies that actually slaps a label on it with a warranty? I ask because the reman market is a mess, some sellers just swap the fan and call it refurbished when the caps inside are already bulging. Did you happen to open it up before installing, or was it sealed? Also curious if the auction listing showed any actual test results or just a stock photo. That stuff tells you a lot about whether they even looked inside the thing.
