Spent $15 on thermal paste and it fixed my overheating laptop

My old laptop was hitting 95C just browsing the web. I figured it was dead or needed a new fan which would cost like $100 at a shop. Picked up some Arctic MX-4 for $15 on Amazon and watched a 10 minute video on how to clean the old paste off. After applying it my temps dropped to 70C under load. Has anyone else had a cheap tube of paste fix a problem they thought was way worse?

Oh man, same thing happened to me! My old gaming laptop was thermal throttling so bad it would just shut down in the middle of games. Got some cheap thermal paste for like $10 and it dropped almost 20 degrees. Felt like a total idiot for not trying that first.

Honestly I saw this YouTube video where a guy tested 20 different thermal pastes and the cheap Arctic MX-4 actually beat most of the expensive ones by a few degrees. Sounds like you saved yourself some cash there.
