Refurbished office PCs beat building from scratch for budget rigs
I compared spending $150 on a used Dell Optiplex from a local recycler against buying new parts for a cheap build last month. The Optiplex booted up with a solid i5 and 16GB RAM while my new parts build hit a DOA motherboard. Has anyone else found a better deal with recycled office gear?

Man that DOA motherboard pain is real, I've been there and it just kills the whole momentum. Nothing beats that feeling of plugging in a used office PC and having it just work.

And it's not just PCs honestly, I feel like our whole culture is obsessed with the newest thing when the previous generation is still perfectly good. Most people would be better off just buying a used business laptop and calling it a day.
