PSA: check your PSU switch before you buy a new power supply
Three weeks ago my PC wouldn't turn on at all, no lights, no fans, nothing. I almost drove to Micro Center in Columbus to grab a $70 replacement, but my roommate asked if I'd flipped the little red switch on the back of the PSU. Turns out I'd bumped it to 230v while moving my desk, and the 115v setting is what we use here in Ohio. Flipped it back and the thing booted right up, zero dollars spent. I felt like a total idiot for not checking that first. Before you drop cash on parts, walk through the dumb stuff like the switch, the wall outlet, and the front panel cable. Anyone else almost buy a part over something that simple?
