Paid $4 for a used laptop fan on eBay, stuck it in a toaster oven at 200 degrees first, and it actually worked
My old HP laptop was hitting 95C and shutting down during Zoom calls, so I grabbed a $4 pull from a busted donor on eBay, but the bearing was dry and grinding. I read on some old forum that baking a fan at 200F for 20 minutes can loosen up the old grease, so I tried it and the noise dropped to nearly nothing. Did I just get lucky, or is there a better cheap way to bring a dead fan back to life?

Baking it in a toaster oven sounds sketchy but a heat gun works faster.
