Bought a $9 thermal pad instead of paste, GPU ran cooler somehow
I tried one of those graphite thermal pads on an old GTX 970 from a pawn shop in Columbus. The card idled 4 degrees cooler and the hotspot dropped like 8, totally opposite of what I expected. Maybe the paste I used before was just dried out, but the pad also means I never have to redo it. Has anyone else had a pad beat paste on a older card?

Ha! So the $9 pad beat your old crusty paste, huh? Guess that pawn shop card just needed a break from the 2015 goo.
