Wasted $300 on a power stretcher I barely use now
I bought a brand new power stretcher last spring thinking it would speed up my installs. Spent around $300 on it because the rental fees were adding up. Turns out for the kind of residential work I do most rooms are small enough that my knee kicker does the job fine. That power stretcher has sat in my truck for maybe 8 months now. I only pull it out for really wide rooms or commercial jobs which is maybe once a month. Should have just kept renting it when I needed it. Anyone else drop cash on a tool you thought you'd use way more than you actually do?

Man that's a familiar feeling... I did the same thing with one of those fancy laser levels a few years back. Ended up using it maybe twice before realizing my old bubble level worked fine for what I do. Could've saved the money and just borrowed one from a buddy. Sometimes you talk yourself into buying gear that sounds good on paper but doesn't fit the actual work you're doing day to day. Might be worth selling yours on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to recoup some of that cash.

Three laser levels sitting in my garage collecting dust right now... I don't know why I keep buying them. First one I got on sale, second one was a gift, third one I actually paid full price for because I convinced myself it would change my life. They don't. My old craftsman level from 1995 still does everything I need. That Facebook Marketplace idea is smart though, I should really list them this weekend before they just become permanent shelf decorations.
