Tried a power stretcher for the first time on a staircase last Tuesday and I dont know why I waited so long
I have been kickin carpet into place on stairs for 6 years and last Tuesday in Cedar Rapids I finally borrowed a power stretcher from a buddy for a 14 step job. That thing locked the carpet in tight on the first pass and I did not have to go back and re-kick a single nose, which usually happens at least twice. Anybody else here made that switch, or do some of you still swear by the knee kicker for stairs?
Honestly "did not have to go back and re-kick a single nose" is the whole thing right there. We all get so used to fighting our tools that we forget they can just work, same way I used a dull blade for years before I finally swapped it. Funny how the hard way starts to feel like the right way.
