Took me three hours to figure out why my power stretcher kept slipping on a thin Berber carpet in Denver yesterday
Turns out the tack strip was installed almost a quarter inch too close to the wall, so none of my pins were biting into anything solid, and I had to pull the whole thing up and re-pin it - has anyone else fought with a brand new house where the prep work was done by someone who clearly hated their job?

Saw a Denver builder on Reddit bragging about how fast they lay tack strip.

and honestly @evan151 it's not even about speed for me, it's about getting it right the first time. i tried rushing tack strip once with a pneumatic nailer and ended up with a section that popped loose three months later. what worked better was taking the time to check the concrete for moisture and using the right fasteners for the slab. on plywood subfloors i just use 15 gauge nails and it holds perfect every time. the whole "fast and cheap" thing usually costs more in callbacks anyway.
