The moment I realized my seam roller was backwards for 3 years
I was on a job last Tuesday at a house in Oakwood doing a big living room in a plush nylon carpet. Been doing this for about 7 years now. My buddy stopped by to help and watched me rolling a seam. He just laughed and said 'dude your roller is backwards, you're pushing the seam apart instead of together.' I felt like an idiot. Looked at the roller head and sure enough I had been using the flat edge against the seam this whole time. Now I use the grooved edge flat against the seam and push outward. Seams look way cleaner, no more gaps. Has anyone else had one of those dumb moments where you realized you learned a basic thing wrong?

Found out I was holding my power washer wand wrong after watching my neighbor clean his driveway in 10 minutes.

Stop it. You had the grooved edge facing the seam the whole time? That's wild. I've been doing carpet for 10 years and I always thought the flat edge pushed the seam together too. I just checked my roller in the truck and I am actually sick to my stomach right now.
