That one customer who watched me install for 2 hours and never said a word
I was doing a bedroom in a house outside Akron back in March, about 300 square feet of plush carpet. The homeowner, a guy in his 60s, just pulled up a chair in the corner and watched the whole time. No questions, no small talk, just sat there sipping coffee. After I finished and cleaned up, he finally spoke. He said 'I've had three guys in here before you and you're the first one who didn't cut a single corner.' Then he handed me a $100 tip. That moment stuck with me because it reminded me that people really do see the work even when they don't say anything. Has anyone else had a customer just sit and watch the whole job? How do you handle that?

Funny how quiet customers are usually the ones paying the most attention. Same thing at the hardware store - the silent guy in the plumbing aisle knows exactly what he needs and doesn't want your help. Just wants to watch and learn.

Saw a TikTok that said quiet shoppers make the best decisions.
