Tack strip gauge debate: I'm done with the 5-in-1 combo tools

After 12 years of installs I checked a job with a laser level and realized my tack strips were off by nearly a quarter inch over 30 feet, all because I trusted that combo tool's stamped marks. Drove back to the shop in Tulsa and grabbed a dedicated gauge, paid $18, and my last 6 rooms have been dead straight. Anyone else ditch the multi-tools for one specific purpose?
