Saw a clever trick for tricky corners at a hotel in Boise

I was working on a big commercial job at the Riverside Hotel in Boise last week, replacing the hallway carpet. One of the older guys on the crew showed me how he handles those sharp, inward corners where two walls meet. He takes a small piece of scrap carpet, folds it over itself to make a thick pad, and uses it to press the carpet right into the corner before he makes his final cut. It seats the backing perfectly without leaving a gap. Has anyone else tried something like this for tight spots?

My boss in Phoenix used a folded towel for the same thing.

Yeah, the folded towel trick is a classic. I've seen people use them as laptop stands to keep them cool, or even as a makeshift mouse pad on a glass desk. My old office kept a stack of cheap hand towels in the supply closet just for propping up monitors. It's the kind of fix that spreads because it just works and costs nothing.
