Old timer told me to stop fighting the seams
Had a 30 year vet named Mike watch me struggle with a seam iron at a job in Peoria. He pulled me aside and said 'you're pushing too hard, let the iron do the work.' Changed my whole approach. Anybody else get advice from an older installer that stuck with you?

Man I don't know, people act like this is some deep zen koan from a martial arts movie. It's a floor seam.

The seam in my kitchen floor is apparently a gateway to enlightenment according to some people. I've got four of them in my cheap linoleum, guess I'm basically a Buddha now. Next time I stub my toe on it maybe I'll pause for deep reflection instead of just swearing. My neighbor painted a bunch of flowers over his floor seam, pretty sure he's unlocked a higher level of wisdom than anyone philosophizing online has.
