Hit 500 yards of carpet in a single day on a big commercial job
We were doing a new office space in Raleigh, and the crew pushed hard to finish the main floor. When we added it up at the end, we had laid down over 500 yards. Some guys say hitting numbers like that means you're cutting corners on quality, like maybe not spending enough time on the seams. But I think with a good team and a clear plan, you can be both fast and do it right. What's the most square footage you've ever put down in one shift, and did you feel good about the work afterwards?

My buddy's crew did a 550-yard day on a big box store. They were so beat, but the store manager checked it and said the seams were perfect.

Ever hit 600 yards on a school job? We did, and the seams were still tight the next year.

Wait, did the school actually do a proper inspection after you finished, or was it just a quick walkthrough? I've seen too many jobs where the seams looked good on day one but the problem was they weren't compacted enough or the lifts were too thick, and that's what really causes issues later. Hitting 600 yards in a day sounds impressive, but I've always thought it's better to take a little extra time and make sure everything's done right, rather than rushing to hit a number. Not saying your crew messed up or anything, but a lot of times those big numbers come with shortcuts that don't show up until the next season.
